"The agreement on the construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline was
signed between Armenia and Iran and it has undergone no changes,"
deputy ambassador of Iran in Armenia Ali Akbar Joukhar told a press
conference today, refuting the information that 40 km pipeline was
sold to Russia.
In his words, both sides should agree to any changes made and nothing
like that was discussed with the Armenia side. The project is being
implemented according to schedule. "Iran has taken the responsibility
to take gas to Armenia and will do so," the deputy ambassador said.
The 40 km section of the gas pipeline is constructed on USD 30
mln Iranian credit. The construction will be over by January 1,
2007.
