YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. Inclusive education methods will be applied
in eight more schools in Armenia in 2006, Chairwoman of the "Bridge
of Hope" NGO Susanna Tadevosyan told reporters.
"Inclusive education has been practised in our country for over three
years, and positive results are obvious," Tadevosyan said. According
to her, four of the eights schools in question are in Yerevan, and
the rest four are in Dilijan, Ijevan, Berd and Noyemberyan, Tavush
region, Armenia.
Tadevosyan pointed out that this method is successfully applied in
five schools in Yerevan, but School #27 sets an example.
One hundred and fifty-seven handicapped children currently attend
school, and 45% of them are educated under special programs,
Tadevosdyan said.
The RA Parliament adopted the Law on people in need of special
conditions for receiving education in May 2005. The Law affords the
opportunity of inclusive education to handicapped children. From
January 1, 2006, the RA Ministry of Science and Education assumed
the responsibility for implementing the law. P.T. -
