DIAMOND PROCESSORS TO PAY LICENSE FEE

The production of easily transported goods can be effective in
Karabakh, which is in blockade. In this context diamond processing
is one of the primary branches of the Karabakh economy.
On March 22 the National Assembly of NKR adopted amendments to the
NKR law on licensing. Accordingly, the owners of diamond processing
enterprises have to get a license and pay an annual license fee of
100 thousand drams.
In Armenia the license fee is 1 million drams.
There are two diamond processing factories in Karabakh; one of them was
temporarily closed down. The export of the production is the number one
problem of the factories because the country is not recognized. There
is international control on the sphere, and Azerbaijan tries to prevent
Karabakh from the international market and succeeds. The "controlling
bodies" even have influence on those factories of Armenia which work
with the Karabakh businesses.
