OSCE Minsk group co-chairmen's consultations can be regarded as a
positive event, but this is not enough for us. We want the
negotiations process to yield the exact results, head of the
Azerbaijan President Executive apparatus department of foreign
affairs, Novruz Mammedov told Trend.
He did not support the statement that the negotiating process is in
the state of stagnation due to absence of information. `The process
has been never publicized, as there was no need in it. Information
will be spread only in case if some agreement will be reached or some
steps forward achieved,' Mammedov said, adding that negotiations are
always held behind the closed doors.
Commenting the statement made by the Armenian Foreign Minister,
regarding the fact that Armenia has already made a number of
concessions and now it is Azerbaijan's turn, the Minister said that
the statement is false. He said that Armenian leaders are playing
with words at the meetings
`They know from the one hand that unsolved conflict may lead to
unexpected consequences. Armenian leadership very worried because of
the speech of the Azerbaijani President at the second meeting of
world Azerbaijanis. Increase of the mint of Azerbaijan and growth of
the army worried them too. They claim in such conditions that they
make concessions and allegedly take the positive side, but the
conflict is no closer to the resolution and that is their fault,'
Mammedov said, adding that following this policy Armenian leadership
is expecting to extend its time in power.
He emphasized that the Armenian leadership chose the wrong position
and compromises on part of Azerbaijan are in the desire to solve the
conflict peacefully, return the occupied lands via negotiations and
peacefully define the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
