If Azerbaijan decides to start military action for the liberation of
Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh from the Armenian armed forces, there is
no doubt that it will win the war, a member of the Turkish Global
Strategic Research Center, retired Maj-Gen Necat Eslen, has told
AssA-Irada.
According to the Turkish general, it is important to issue political
messages before starting a war.
"Azerbaijan is facing not only Armenia in the Upper Garabagh
conflict. Therefore, it is important to make the country's political
position clear. If parties to the conflict are left to deal with each
other, Azerbaijan will certainly win. You have the capacity to do that:
political, economic and military," he said.
Eslen stated that Azerbaijan should resolve the Garabagh conflict on
its own. "If the country takes steps to solve the problem, neither
the European Union nor the USA will impede this."
He added that Azerbaijani soldiers were no weaker than their Turkish
colleagues.
"I have been watching Azerbaijani TV and am aware of the
combat-readiness of your army. Your soldiers are just like ours. So,
if the war starts, I am sure they will show the enemy all their might,"
Eslen said.
