The problems in the science field of Armenia made the RA
officials create a new conception of reforms in the science field,
deputy Minister of Science and Education Ara Avetisyan announced
today. According to him, the future conception includes a number of
urgent problems of the field.
A interdepartmental committee has been created which includes
representatives of the National Academy of Science, Ministry
of Commerce and Economic development, Ministry of Finance, the
President's Administration and the Government. The newly created
structure is supposed to represent a new conception of reforms in the
science field till January 2007. Three working groups have already
been created. There is also a draft document which according to Ara
Avetisyan will be discussed in November. He claims that no written
offer will escape the attention of the Committee.
Two of the working groups will leave for Hungary and Czech Republic,
and the other two - to Poland and Lithuania, in order to investigate
the governing mechanisms and forms of financing in those countries.
Asked a question about the fate of the resolution of the United Labor
party about the National Academy of Science, the deputy minister
answered, "The draft was devoid of scientific basis. Speaking about
the science field, the draft confused the PHD with post-graduate
education; such errors considerably weakened it".
