more images Today, the 7th session of the Armenia-EU Cooperation
Council affirmed and put into force Armenia - EU Action Plan within
the framework of the European Neighborhood programme.
The document is aimed at developing regional integration.
According to the RA Foreign Ministry, the participants of the
session touched upon political issues, interior reforms as well as
human rights.
The Armenian side represented the construction work of Iran-Armenia
gas pipeline and the diversification of energy sources.
The session was followed by the official ceremony of Armenia - EU
Action Plan affirmation. In this connection, RA Foreign Minister
Vartan Oskanian signed a document with P. Lehtomakin, Minister of
Foreign Trade of Finland.
The Action Plan provides Armenia with an opportunity to establish
intensive political, cultural, economic and security relations with
EU as well as to enter the EU market.
The endorsement of the document gives a perfect ground to implement
a number of reforms and to make agreements of higher status with
the assistance of the EU. As a result of these actions Armenia will
meet the European criteria in view of social, economic and political
systems.
The Action Plan highlights the EU-Armenia collaboration, the
strengthening of commercial and economic relations via financial
assistance rendered by EU which will promote further investments,
and will provide increase of export and economic growth.
