French President Jacques Chirac declared in Yerevan on Saturday that
French investors have confidence in Armenia. Chirac spoke at a joint
press conference with Armenian President Robert Kocharyan.
The French president said he was optimistic, taking into account
a quick pace of the growth of the Armenian economy due both to the
economic development and talent, skills and the experience of the
Armenian people. Contacts with the world and France should help
improve their opportunities, Chirac told the press conference.
For his part, Robert Kocharyan underlined the economic aspect in
bilateral relations. Today, there are more than 100 enterprises in
Armenia with the participation of the French capital, Kocharyan said.
Armenia is hoping for France' active participation in the Armenian
banking sector, and the advance of French companies to the Armenian
insurance market, Kocharyan said. The French Credit Lyonnais Bank
buying the shares of the Armenian Bank of Peasant Aid will have a
positive impact on the Armenian banking sector, Kocharyan said.
