TURKEY CONDEMNS ARGENTINE "ARMENIAN GENOCIDE" RESOLUTION
Ankara, 15 September: Turkish MFA [Ministry of Foreign Affairs] has
condemned a resolution of the Cordoba local parliament in Argentina
that declares 24 April as the day to commemorate the so-called
"Armenian genocide" and that makes the genocide part of the textbooks
that students must read.
"We condemn the resolution with deep sadness and find it
unacceptable. The incidents that took place in 1915, a period during
World War I, are still being discussed by historians. Respectable
historians all across the globe have proved that all Armenian
allegations of a so-called genocide are baseless. Cordoba local
parliament's resolution will have a negative impact on the developing
ties between Turkey and Argentina," said the MFA statement.
