Though the survey of the explosion of sewerage pipes of "Nairit"
factory is still under way, Nikolay Grigoryan, press secretary of
Emergency Board, announced today that there is no need to worry.
"We can divulge the cause of the explosion after having the examination
results," said Mr. Grigoryan during the 20th session of the "CIS
Intergovernmental Council on Emergency Situations of Natural and
Man-made Character."
Rescuers from eight countries have arrived in Armenia.
Azerbaijan and Georgia refused to participate in the session.
"Armenia is a country of great risks and we must try to reduce
their number. The rescuers' service of Armenia is not large but
it works efficiently," said Russian delegate Yuri Brajnikov, head
of international ties department. He highlighted the cooperation
within the realms of the council and illustrated the efficient work
of Russian and Ukrainian rescuers during the crash of the Ukrainian
aircraft TU - 154.
Nikolay Grigoryan noted that Armenia has actively participated
in all programs connected with calamity combat and monitoring
implementation. "We have much to learn but we can also teach a lot. Our
rescuers study in Armenia, Russia and abroad. We are in close relations
with Kansas, U.S. state.
Armenian rescuers' service has got 3500 workers. There is RA law on
