BY END OF APRIL RA GOVERNMENT TO INTRODUCE 2008-2012 STRATEGY OF YOUTH POLICY

YEREVAN, APRIL 3, NOYAN TAPAN. The 2008-2012 state strategy of
the Youth Policy developed by the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth
Affairs is directed at the settlement of the problems of the young
of Armenia. As Deputy Minister Arthur Poghosian mentioned at the
press conference, which was held on April 3, the draft strategy is
currently in a stage of public discussion and will be submitted for
the government's approval at the end of April. The Action Plan of
the strategy is envisaged to be adopted by the end of the year.
Arthur Poghosian mentioned that the strategy has four primary
directions.
The first is the provision of the participation process of the young
in the making and implementation of state decisions concerning the
young. The second is the improvement of the social economic problems
of the young and young families, the third concerns the healthy
mode of life, patriotic upbringing and free passtime of the young,
and the last direction is the increase in the coordination level of
the implementation of the youth policy.
In the words of the Deputy Minister, the issue on providing young
couples with appartments is envisaged to be settled, in particular,
by state appartment building and giving long-term hypothec credits
with low interest rate. It was also mentioned that the family, where
one of the couple is under 30, is considered to be young. 826 thousand
young men aged 18-30, which makes the 25.6 percent of the population,
lives in Armenia.
