Armenia's Deputy Defense Minister Manvel Grigorian has been dismissed,
the presidential press service reported on Wednesday. The dismissal
was ordered in a presidential decree, the press service said.
The statement by an opposition leader, Levon Ter-Petrosian at a
rally in Yerevan following the February 19 presidential elections,
claiming that Grigorian had switched to his side, might have stood
behind the dismissal, according to Armenian experts.
Demonstrators who joined the rally were protesting the outcome of
the presidential polls won by incumbent Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan.
The rally of Ter-Petrosian's supporters deteriorated into unrest in
which seven people were killed and more than 260 were wounded. Over
100 protestors were arrested.
