YEREVAN, APRIL 4, NOYAN TAPAN. The political coalition has not
conducted so far any discussion on the composition of the government
and the post the National Assembly vice speaker, the chairman of
"Orinats Yerkir" (OY) party and the parliamentary OY faction Artur
Baghdasarian stated at the April 4 press conference. According to him,
such discussions will take place only after April 9 when the president
elect will assume his duties. He also denied the rumors that there is
an agreement on proposing the OY party deputy chairwoman, secretary
of parliamentary OY faction Heghine Bisharian for the post of NA vice
speaker. He called these rumors an "absolute lie".
A. Baghdasarian "abstained" from answering the question about OY party'
willingness to assume responsibility for particular sectors of excutive
power. At the same time OYP chairman assured those present that the
candidates of their party will be "decent people, who are accepted
and respected by the society". In his words, "it is important that
the future government of Armenia enjoy confidence of our people in
terms of its personnel, organizational and intellectual potential".
Speaking about the internal political situation in Armenia,
A. Baghdasarian said that it should develop within the limits of
solidarity and tolerance.
In his opinion, the situation in the country is "not highly explosive",
and its getting back to a normal course depends both on political
forces and the mass media.
A. Baghdasarian also said that the Christian Democrat and People's
Parties International made a decision about OYP's joining it in
Brussels on March 31. He attached importance to this fact in terms of
raising Armenia's problems at international structures, underlining
that the International is an influential international organization,
and the process of OYP's joining it took over 5 years. OYP was also
included in International's faction in the PACE. The International is
currently one of the three biggest party unions in the world. Among
its members are right-wing centrist parties of over 82 countries.
