Armenians who affirm that Nakhchivan is Armenian territory, claim to
Akhalkalaki region and Turkish territory called West Armenia. AzerTaj
correspondent informs that article "Number of monuments in Georgia
and West Armenia is decreasing", published in 24 March issue of
"Les Nouvelles d"Armenie" proves it.
Article reads that chief of the notorious organization called
"Researches concerned Armenian monuments", Samvel Karapetyan,
researched khachkars - monuments in the form of Armenian crosses,
while visiting regions. "Scientist" affirming that in Akhalkalaki
region, situated at the border of Georgia and Armenia there are
many khachkars, informs that he took their photos. S. Karapetyan,
remaining loyal to traditions of his ancestors on making Armenian
monuments and music of other nations, impertinently asserts that he
discovered Armenian khachkar in Akhalkalaki region referred to 1475,
that there are many khachkars in the region referred to XIV and
XV centuries. At the same time he is not ashamed "with heartache"
to inform readers that their chronicles were not recorded remaining
unknown till now. "Scientist" with the most unscrupulous way raises
clamour, that, allegedly Armenian churches and khachkars in Georgia
are destroyed, ancient churches, symbol of Armenia, are decreasing
and soon they will be completely destroyed.
Not directly pointing to Turkey, S. Karapetyan "forgot" to remind
about territorial claims of Armenians against Turkey, just having
mentioned West Armenia, he openly declared that he doesn't settle
accounts with Turkey, asserting that there there are also Armenian
khachkars. To prove that these territories historically belonged to
Armenia he informs that he discovered khachkar there referred to 927.
Without restraint he presents ruins of Armenian cloister called
"Mekopi" in West Armenia as terrible tragedy of Armenian nation.
