    Assemblymember Paul Krekorian's FILMFEST 43 Submission Deadline


    Glendale, CA - The submission deadline for California State
    Assemblymember Paul Krekorian's first annual FILMFEST 43 is Friday,
    April 18, 2008. A unique opportunity for the next generation of
    filmmakers, FILMFEST 43 is accepting submissions from students who live
    within the 43rd California State Assembly District or attend one of its
    public or private schools - the 43rd District includes the cities of
    Glendale and Burbank, and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Atwater
    Village, Franklin Hills, Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Silver Lake, Toluca
    Lake, Valley Glen, Valley Village and Van Nuys.

    As Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on the Preservation of
    California's Entertainment Industry, Assemblymember Krekorian wants to
    promote the next wave of filmmakers within the State of California by
    encouraging students to nourish their filmmaking talents. An exciting
    event for all members of the community, FILMFEST 43 will be held on May
    16, 2008 at 6:30 pm at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. The event
    is sponsored by several major studios including The Walt Disney Co.,
    Warner Bros., Paramount, and Sony. Official FILMFEST 43 film selections
    will be eligible for the awards, recognitions and prizes granted at the
    festival.

    Students are encouraged to submit original films of any genre, including
    narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental, which are under 35
    minutes in length. All submissions must be directed, produced,
    photographed, and edited by the student contestant(s). Submissions must
    be accompanied by a synopsis of 50 words or less, and a complete and
    accurate list of credits. Films produced by Class of 2007 students may
    be submitted for consideration if they were completed before August
    2007.
