VIMPELCOM TO CUT INVESTMENT IN ARMENIA 18% ON YR IN 2008

    Prime-Tass English-language Business Newswire
    April 7, 2008 Monday 1:45 PM EET

Russian mobile phone company VimpelCom plans to cut investment in
Armenia by 18% this year to U.S. $74 million, the company's Vice
President Dmitry Pleskonos told reporters Monday.

The bulk of investment will go into the development of wireline and
wireless networks, including third generation (3G) networks.

VimpelCom plans to launch 3G services in Armenia in two or three
    months, Pleskonos said.

In separate news, VimpelCom has launched its Beeline brand in that
country after winning a copyright violation lawsuit against Armenian
computer equipment and IT solution vendor Bi Line.

VimpelCom, Russia's second biggest mobile operator, fully owns
ArmenTel, the smaller of Armenia's two carriers.
