ARMENIAN OPPOSITION: "RESOLUTION ADOPTED IN UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY DETERMINES FUTURE STATUS OF NAGORNO KARABAKH AS A PART OF AZERBAIJAN"

    Azerbaijan

Yerevan - APA. Armenian opposition parties issued a joint statement
on the process of settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

APA reports quoting ARMINFO that 19 opposition parties, as well as
Armenian National Movement headed by Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Peoples
Party, Republic Party and New Times party signed the statement. The
statement says that the ongoing process around the settlement of
the conflict pose threat to the future of Nagorno Karabakh and peace
processes in the region and shows incapability of the authorities'
political course. The authors of the statement consider that the
adoption of the resolution confirming Azerbaijan's territorial
integrity in the UN General Assembly on March 14 is the result
of 10-year unsuccessful foreign policy pursued by the Armenian
    authorities.

"This resolution harms the positions of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh,
demands one-sided compromises from Armenia and determines future
status of Nagorno Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan. The adoption of
this resolution offers so many advantages to Azerbaijan that they make
statements on refusing the negotiations and meetings. For example,
Azerbaijani side refused meeting in Bucharest", the statement says.

The political forces undersigning the statement consider that Armenian
government's pushing aside Nagorno Karabakh separatists from the
process of negotiations also played an important role in weakening
the position of Armenia in the international arena.

Authority strikes a bargain of which results are impossible to be
eliminated and it caused danger to international legal recognition of
Nagorno Karabakh and the issues are considered as Armenia-Azerbaijan
intergovernmental conflict resulted with the occupation of Azerbaijani
lands. The resolution adopted in PACE in 2005 accuses Armenia of
occupation of Azerbaijani lands", the statement records.

The authors of the statement criticize Madrid principles proposed by
OSCE MG Co-Chairs and stated that Armenian's position dropped behind
in this document in comparison with proposals in June, 2006.

"Presidential elections accompanied with violence against protesters,
forgery on February 19, 2008 were big mistake of Armenian government.

Armenian government showed its dictatorial regime and caused
danger to international power of the country and failed negotiations
process. Continuation of this policy can be resulted with inflammation
    of war", the statement writes.

Political forces, signed the statement, announced that current
authority was responsible for weakness of Armenian's positions in
    the international community.
