PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN RECEIVED THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President Serzh Sargsyan received the Chairman of the Gulbenkian
Foundation's Board of Directors, Emilio Rui Vilar and the Ambassador
of Portugal to Armenia, Manuel Marselu Curto.
The Chairman of the Gulbenkian Foundation's Board of Directors conveyed
to the President of Armenia warm greetings and congratulations from
the President of Portugal.
Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of the assistance provided
by the Foundation to our country and, in particular, highlighted the
recent agreement between the Foundation and the Matenadaran.
According to Emilio Rui Vilar, during the fifty years of its existence
the Gulbenkian Foundation has been working closely with Armenia and
the Diaspora and is ready to expand the cooperation. He also said that
currently the Foundation in involved in the movement of the European
Foundations and has submitted its candidacy for the presidency of the
Council of the European Foundations. President Sargsyan wished him
success and noted that it could become another beneficial opportunity
for Armenia.
The two sides spoke also about the Armenian-Portuguese relations. Serzh
Sargsyan underlined the interest of the Armenian side in deepening
bilateral and multilateral relations.
The parties agreed that cultural contacts and exchange of information
can become a driving force for the enhancement of the economic
relations.
