    According to RA Constitution, RA President-Elect Serge Sargsyan will
    assume office today by swearing in during a special sitting of the

    Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan (RA incumbent President
    Robert Kocharyan assumed office on April 9, 2003).

    The Constitution also provides for the text of the President's oath:
    "Assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Armenia I
    swear: to fulfill the requirements of the Constitution in an unreserved
    manner; to respect the fundamental human and civil rights and freedoms;
    to ensure the protection, independence, territorial integrity and
    security of the Republic to the glory of the Republic of Armenia and
    to the welfare of the people of the Republic of Armenia."

    Serge Sargsyan's swearing in ceremony will be followed by a parade

    of Defence, the Police troops, the frontier forces, the Military

    Government continue carrying out their duties until a new Cabinet
    is formed.
