Recently the acting chief of the Police Service Robert Shaferyan
has signed orders on dismissing the chiefs of the police of Martuni
and Hadrut. During the meeting of the chiefs of the police special
services the dismissal was not explained by transfer to another
position as it is usually the case.
Moreover, it was noted that it is necessary to clear the ranks of
the police. It turned out that the police is staffed by 83 percent.
During the consultation it was noted that in the first quarter of
2008 the number of economic crimes and misuse of power has gone up
compared with the same period of 2007. In three months 147 cases were
reported compared with 135 last year. The number of road accidents
has increased, taking 4 lives.
