Baku wants Moscow to help find a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict that would allow Azerbaijan to maintain its territorial
integrity, Azeri Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov told journalist
    on Wednesday.

"One should assist in the settlement on the basis of territorial
integrity. We of course would like the Russian side to say that it
backs a settlement on the basis of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity
within the framework of its internationally recognized borders,"
    Azimov said.

The diplomat said that the Russian side has yet to make such a
statement. "We can hear them saying something like: 'Russia will
agree with what the parties achieve'," Azimov said.

"As for compromises, if we act within the framework of international
principles and norms, I think we must not and cannot disregard the
    territorial integrity," the diplomat said.

Speaking about the settlement in general, Azimov said that Azerbaijan
could change its tone at the negotiations, if it eventually becomes
convinced that the position of Armenia is not constructive.

"As soon as we see that the opposite party does not fulfill its
obligations, refuses to observe international legal norms, and takes
an openly destructive position, we will talk differently. Today we
will continue taking actions both within the framework of the peaceful
settlement and on other fronts, including the legal one," Azimov said.
