YEREVAN, APRIL 17, NOYAN TAPAN. The 7th anniversary of the RA
Police and the 90th anniversary of formation of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs was marked on April 16 in the RA Police. Newly
elected RA President Serge Sargsian addressed a message to the
policemen. Colonel-General Hayk Haroutiunian, the Chief of the RA
Police, said that a Crime Prevention State Program has been approved
lately for the first time in the country's history.
The RA Police Chief stated that there is a lack of confidence to the
activity of the Police in the certain strata of society, which is
"the consequence of our faults and omissions. Not always we are able
to be understandable for our compatriots, not only to inform them,
but also to make them participants of our problems, our goals,
the Police-society dialogue is not always established. The latest
dramatic events showed that in some cases we are not able yet to give
an adequate response and we still have much to do in some directions,"
H. Haroutiunian said adding that already "not everything possible
but the maximum, even impossible" should be done for the RA Police
to advance more quickly by the way of renovation.
By the RA President's decree a group of Police employees were
awarded medals for Bravery, Combat Service, Excellent Keeping of
Public Order. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian also took part in the
awarding ceremony.
