ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONCLUDES NAGORNO-KARABAKH VISIT

YEREVAN, APRIL 21, ARMENPRESS: Armenian foreign ministry said today
minister Edward Nalbandian met on April 19 during his first visit
to Nagorno-Karabakh with chairman of its parliament Ashot Ghulian,
prime minister Ara Harutyunian and his Nagorno-Karabakh counterpart
Georgy Petrosian.
The ministry said Ashot Ghulian congratulated Edward Nalbandian on
his appointment to the post saying he is sure that such a seasoned
diplomat as Mr. Nalbandian will give a new incentive to Armenia's
foreign policy.
At Nalbandian's request Ashot Ghulian spoke about the joint session
of the Armenian-Nagorno-Karabakh inter-parliamentary commission that
took place the day before his visit.
Minister Nalbandian was said to emphasize the cooperation between
Armenian and Nagorno-Karabakh parliaments pointing out the importance
of parliamentary diplomacy in the context of Armenia-Nagorno-Karabakh
partnership.
During the meeting with prime minister Ara Harutyunian the latter
spoke at the request of the Armenian foreign minister on major
economic development prospects with reference to introduction of
new technologies.
The main subject of Edward Nalbandian's meeting with his counterpart
Georgy Petrosian was the current situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict. They also spoke about making their cooperation more close
and reached an agreement on holding regular consultations.
On his way back to Armenia minister Nalbandian visited the town
of Shushi to meet with Archbishop Pargev Martirosian, head of the
Nagorno-Karabakh Diocese of the Armenian Church, who gave his blessing
to the minister wishing him strength to overcome successfully all
challenges.
