HOVIK ABRAHAMIAN APPOINTED HEAD OF RA PRESIDENT'S ADMINISTRATION

YEREVAN, APRIL 22, NOYAN TAPAN. By RA President's April 21
decree Hovik Abrahamian was appointed Head of the RA President's
Administration. Noyan Tapan was informed about it by RA President's
Press Office.
H. Abrahamian was born on January 24, 1958 in the village of
Mkhchian, Ararat region. He graduated from Yerevan Road College and
Yerevan Institute of People's Economy. In 1977-1979 he served in the
Soviet Army. In 1990-1991 he worked at Burastan Brandy Company as
head of department, in 1991-1995 he worked at Artashat Wine-Brandy
Factory as Director. In 1995-1999 he was a deputy of the RA National
Assembly of first convocation. In 1995-1996 he worked as Chairman
of Executive Committee of Artashat Town Committee, in 1996-1998
he was Artashat Mayor, in 1998-2000 he was RA Ararat Governor. In
2000-2001 he worked as RA Minister of Territorial Administration and
Coordination of Infrastructure Activities. In 2001-2002, as a result
of the structural changes made in the government he was appointed RA
Minister of Territorial Administration and from 2002 February to 2005
he was RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Coordination
of Infrastructure Activities. As a result of structural changes
in the government, on April 27, 2005 he was appointed RA Minister
of Territorial Administration with functions of a Coordinating
Minister. From April 27, 2005 he has been a member of the Security
Council under the RA President. By the RA President's decree signed
on June 8, 2007 he was appointed RA Deputy Prime Minister, RA Minister
of Territorial Administration.
By the RA President's December 30, 2004 decree, for his efficient
work in the state government system he was awarded Anania Shirakatsi
medal, was also awarded RA Prime Minister's memorial medal, Marshal
Baghramian medal, Fridtjof Nansen gold memorial medal. Hovik Abrahamian
is a member of Councils of Yerevan State University and Yerevan State
Economic University.
He is a member of the Board of the Republican Party of Armenia.
He is married, has three children.
