Migration from Armenia to Russia: International Conference Convenes in
    Yerevan

Yerevan, Armenia - Eurasia Partnership Foundation, together with the
Armenian organization Zinvori Mair will convene a two-day international
conference entitled Migration from Armenia to Russia: the Role of Civil
Society, Networks, and Dialogue with Government on April 29-30 at the
Congress Hotel in Yerevan. A number of experts on migration issues from
state and non-governmental entities and businesses from Armenia and Russia
    will attend the conference.

At the conference, the findings of new research on migration trends in
Armenian communities, conducted in 2007-2008 by Eurasia Partnership
Foundation, will be presented for the first time. The goals of the
conference are to increase public awareness about Russian and Armenian
migration policies, to present the experience of government and
non-government entities in addressing issues and solving problems related to
migration, and to forge stronger ties between government and
non-governmental organizations in Russia and Armenia in their efforts to
decrease irregular migration. A resolution on migration policy, including
issues such as bilateral cooperation and diplomacy, special assistance
programs for migrants and their families, and reintegration of migrants,
will be developed by participants of the conference.

"The key export in Armenia is the human being, his work and thinking. We
want that export to turn from a problem into a strategic factor for Armenia
and its society. Our regional resource centers will form ties here that will
help them better assist potential labor migrants to protect their rights,
and returnees to reintegrate into their communities" says Gevorg
Ter-Gabrielyan, Country Director of Eurasia Partnership Foundation in
    Armenia.

The conference is part of Eurasia Partnership Foundation's labor migration
program, which provides information to migrants and potential migrants
through NGO-based service centers, which also aid in migrants' return and
    reintegration.
