STRENGTHENING OF NEW GENERATION'S LINKS WITH ARMENIA ONE OF MAJOR GOALS OF AGBU

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, NOYAN TAPAN. At the April 28 meeting of the
Armenian president Serge Sargsian and the chairman of the Armenian
General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Perch Sedrakian, the interlocutors
spoke about Armenia-Diaspora relations, attaching importance to their
re-interpretatioin and building based on the principles of mutual
understanding and cooperation. Top priority was given the probem
of Armenian identity preservation. In the words of P. Sedrakian,
the AGBU has launched several programs in Armenia, the major goal of
which is to strengthen links of the new Armenian Diasporan generation
with homeland.
Noting that Armenia is not rich in natural resources, S. Sargsian
considered human potential as the main resource of the country,
saying that it should be unified and used in the best way in order
to make the country competitive.
