    66 PERSONS UNDER PRELIMINARY ARREST BASED ON CRIMINAL CASE ON POSTELECTION EVENTS IN ARMENIA

    YEREVAN, APRIL 28, NOYAN TAPAN. As of April 28, 66 persons are
    under preliminary arrest, another 27 accused persons have given a
    written undertaking not to leave Armenia - based on the criminal
    case investigated by the RA Special Investigation Service (SIS)
    in connection with organization and instigation of mass disorder
    in Yerevan and violence against representatives of the authorities,
    NT was informed from the website of the RA prosecutor general's office.

    Under this criminal case, investigation with respect to Vardan
    Jhangirian, Grigor Aghamalian, Aram Bareghamian and Nver
    Sargsian was completed and their cases were separated into a
    proceeding. V. Jhangirian is charged under the RA Criminal Code's
    Article 316 part 2 - violence, dangerous for life or health, against
    a representative of authorities. He has been arrested. A. Aghamalian
    is charged under Article 225 part 2 - direct participation in mass
    disorder, he has been arrested. A. Bareghamian is charged under
    Article 225-1 part 1 - organization and holding of a mass event in
    violation of the established order, organization of mass disorder -
    and Article 316 part 2 - violence, dangerous for life or health,
    against a representative of authorities; arrest was chosen as a
    precautionary measure with respect to him. The indicted cases have
    been sent to Yerevan criminal court.

    N. Sargsian is charged under the CC's Article 316 part 1 - violence,
    not dangerous for life or health, against a representative of
    authorities, he was arrested, his case has been sent to the general
    jurisdiction court of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash communities.

    Arrest has been replaced with a wtitten undertaking not to leave
    Armenia with respect to another two accused persons - Vahram Mkhitarian
    and Khachatur Simonian.

    Police have found Lendrush Tonoyan (a wanted person), arrest has been
    chosen as precautionary measure.
