ArmInfo. Lake Sevan water level is not increased not to flood
oligarchs' houses at the coast, representative of UNEP National
Committee, Karine Danielyan, said when commenting on increase of
flush from the lake up to 360 mln sq/m over the current year.
She also added that returning of the level of Lake Sevan to its earlier
indicator necessary for restoration of the ecological system of the
lake is possible only if the norm - not more than 150 mln sq/m of
water annually may be taken from the lake. If 13 mln sq/m ensure 1
sm of the water level, in that case about 400 mln sq/m are necessary
to preserve positive balance.
'But at present everything possible is done to reduce positive
balance', - she said.
To recall, Armenian government adopted a decision in September 2007,
according to which buildings may be built at the lake of Sevan at
the distance of 1,5 m from the water line, instead of the former 4,5m.
