Assemblymember Paul Krekorian Announces $4.6 Million State Grant for
Modernization of Grant High School
Glendale, CA-Assemblymember Paul Krekorian (D-Burbank) announced that
Ulysses S. Grant Senior High School, in the Los Angeles Unified School
District, was approved by the State Allocation Board (SAB) for
$4,632,717 in Proposition 1D finding for school modernization.
"I'd like to congratulate the students, parents, teachers, and
administrators of Grant High School," Assemblymember Krekorian said. "I
hope that this infusion of funding will go a long way towards updating
this campus, and providing the high-quality learning environment that
our students deserve.
"In approving the Proposition 1D School Bond in November 2006, the
voters of California recognized the need to build new schools, aid in
class-size reduction, and modernize our out-dated school facilities,"
Assemblymember Krekorian said. "I am pleased that the SAB is carrying
out this mandate in approving new construction and modernization funding
for schools throughout the state."
Yesterday's SAB funding approval will cover 60% of this modernization
project's total cost of $7,721,195. The Los Angeles Unified School
District will contribute the remaining 40%.
The State Allocation Board is responsible for allocating proceeds from
General Obligation Bond Issues and other designated state funds. The
Board is also responsible for administering the School Facility,
Emergency Repair, State Relocatable Classroom and Deferred Maintenance
Programs.
Assemblymember Paul Krekorian (D-Burbank) represents the cities of
Burbank and Glendale, and the Los Angeles communities of Atwater
Village, Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Silver Lake, Toluca Lake, Valley
Glen, Valley Village and Van Nuys.
