The attempts of some private British organizations and companies to
carry out an illegal activity in Nagorno Garabagh is connected with
the absence of true or any information about the Azerbaijan-Armenia
conflict over Nagorno Garabagh.
The due statement was made by Fakhraddin Gurbanov, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Great Britain.
On the whole, he highly evaluated the current relations with Great
Britain noting that it was one of the first countries to recognize
Azerbaijan's independence in 1991.
"Considering Britain's influence in the region, we attach great
importance to the development of bilateral relations. Great Britain
recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and plays
an important role in the peaceful resolution of Nagorno-Garabagh
conflict, supporting Azerbaijan on the level of the UNO and OSCE. The
Foreign Ministry of Great Britain observes the activity of the OSCE
MInsk Group attentively and has a special representative on the South
Caucasus. Great Britain also supports Azerbaijan in cooperation with
NATO, accession to WTO and pays special attention to the activity
of GUAM, supporting its declarations on the international level",
he said also stressing the role of Great Britain in the Extractive
Industries Transparency Initiative.
Commenting on the recommendations of the British Department of External
Affairs to Sunvil Travel to consult the government of Azerbaijan
while arranging any tours to the occupied lands, he said that the
lack of true or any information about Nagorno Garabagh conflict is
a very serious problem.
"Unfortunately, the local community obtains information about
the conflict and the entire region mainly from the Armenian or
pro-Armenia sources. The embassy has long been conducting due work to
settle this problem and fill the informational vacuum with unbiased
information. This work has been fruitful. Unlike Armenians we do
not deal with falsifications. We just need to bring the truth to the
people, as it is much stronger than any scientific technologies of
propaganda", he noted.
He also sad that Armenian side attempts to use the lack of information
about the conflict, which occurred with the aforementioned tourist
company.
"We observe the situation and make everything possible to find the
best solution to the issue", he concluded.
