4 PRISONERS SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT GO ON HUNGER STRIKE

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 1, NOYAN TAPAN. 4 prisoners, who were sentenced to
life imprisonment for military crimes in 2003-2005, went on a hunger
strike on January 29, demanding milder punishment. NT correspondent
was informed on February 1 by Arsen Babayan, spokesman for the
penitentiary department of the RA ministry of justice that at the
time these persons had appealed only to the appeal court regarding
their verdicts, no cassation complaints were filed, and now they
state that they disagree with the court decision.
