Vaan Ovannisyan, candidate to Armenian president, representing
Dashnaktsutsun party and vice speaker of the parliament, intends to
propose a non-aggression pact to Azerbaijan in case he is elected
the president.
Armenia and Azerbaijan should tell each other that they do not consider
forced resolution of the Garabagh conflict to be expedient.
"Otherwise, if Azerbaijan insists on war, it will allow me not to think
of compromises", Ovannisyan noted during the meeting with voters on
February 4.
It should be noted that according to him the second step must be
the return of the so called "Nagorno-Garabagh Republic" to the
negotiation table.
Moreover, he considers it necessary to neutralize "the negative role
of Turkey" in the Garabagh conflict resolution.
In this view, the candidate considers it necessary to establish
correct relations with EU and NATO, which can prevent Turkey's
"aggressive" behavior.
