RUSSIAN AND ARMENIAN PREMIERS DISCUSS ECONOMY AND TRADE IN YEREVAN

    Zvezda TV, Moscow,
    Feb 6 2008

[Presenter] Armenia is to become Russia's ally in the nuclear
nonproliferation. This has become clear after [Russian Prime Minister]
Viktor Zubkov and his Armenian counterpart [Armenian Prime Minister]
Serzh Sarkisyan agreed today in Yerevan to set up an international
uranium enrichment centre in the Russian town of Angarsk. Among
other things, the centre will produce fuel for Armenian nuclear power
plants. Summing up the negotiations Zubkov said that our countries
should not limit their relations to trade and economic alone.

[Zubkov, captioned] Russia is preserving the status of Armenia's
leading partner in international trade. Moreover, the volume of trade
between the two countries has grown by over 60 per cent in the past
two years. This is a very high figure. Besides, - this figure has
been already mentioned - in 2007, the trade volume exceeded 700m
dollars. We think we can do more. We think that we will exceed the
1bn dollar point in the very near future.
