'Armavia' acquires two new 'Airbus'

ArmInfo. The national air carrier of Armenia "Armavia" Company will
carry out a new Yerevan-Marseilles flight started March, 2008,
"Armavia" Company owner, President of MIKA Armenia Trading Mikhail
Baghdasarov told ArmInfo.
As he said, it is scheduled to carry out two flights a week and then
increase the frequency of flights. Baghdasarov also said that the
flight to Marseilles will become regular in summer. Currently, the
regular flights to France are carried out only to Paris. In addition,
the Company operates with losses in winter, as a rule. "Armavia" also
intends to increase twofold the frequency of flights to Greece and
Northern Caucasus. Thus, the Company purchases two aircrafts Sukhoi
Superjet -100 (SSI-100). Each aircraft costs about $19 mln under
catalogue cost of about $2,8,3 mln. The Company also intends to acquire
a small-fuselage liner for 50 places to carry out charter flights of a
group of passengers. This include orders of tourist companies,
ministries, which schedule to depart to international conferences with
a definite staff. To increase the frequency of distant flights,
"Armavia" signed a leasing contract with "Airbus Industry" on
acquisition of new airliners "A-320" and "A-319". The Company
preliminary paid 1,5 mln Euro for "A-320", which will be supplied to
Armenia in April-May, 2008. The next "A-319" airliner should be
delivered in May, 2009. Currently, the Company's airpark consists of
four airplanes A-320, an airplane Boeing 737-300. Moreover, three
airplanes of Soviet production, IL-86 and YAK-42 are operated on a
leasehold basis.
