DASHNAKTSUTYUN CANDIDATE COMMITTED TO ESTABLISHMENT OF CONSTITUTIONAL
ORDER
On February 8 the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun
held a rally in which several tens of thousands of people
participated, during which the advantages of the candidate of
Dashnaktsutyun were enumerated, criticism of the present and the past
was heard and election of future was endorsed.
In view of so many people the question occurs which force intends to
become president against the will of people, Hrant Margaryan,
representative of the ARF Bureau, started his speech. According to
him, the number of people gathered at the square is evidence to their
determination and self-confidence. `Today we have come together for a
breakthrough in the life of our country, to change the government
through an election, to establish fair government, people's
government, our government,' Hrant Margaryan stated. According to
him, they come to shape a positive axis, and there are two margins,
the former and the present. According to Hrant Margaryan, people are
the victim of the former and present government, there is no
difference between them regarding the policies of social justice and
equity.
`You have contaminated the atmosphere, one intimidates the Armenian
people through the other,' Hrant Margaryan addressed the former and
the present governments. The presidential candidate Vahan Hovanisyan
says the Armenian people live in two different worlds. `We live in
two different worlds, in two parallel worlds which never come across.
As viewed from the outside, the country develops, the country goes
ahead, in reality it turns around in the same place, in reality there
is stagnation,' Vahan Hovanisyan says. According to him, democracy
and economy appear to develop, however, the society and people have
nothing to do with it. `And these two worlds are gradually departing.
We can see this development, but this development is departing from
us' Vahan Hovanisyan says. He thinks we failed to realize an
important thing at the dawn on independence.
`We failed to realize that the regaining of independence which we had
waited for centuries and our ancestors had fought and died for does
not bring about justice automatically. It takes more struggle, more
unity, more effort, more determination, and most importantly, no
fear, no fear to achieve justice after independence, and you are
here, it means we will gain it by all means,' Vahan Hovanisyan
stated, noting that he and his friends are free and with their choice
people will also become free.
`I will not turn the Constitution and the laws into mere documents
about which you learn from speeches of political activists on TV or
in newspapers, but they will become tangible, part of your life. The
primary effort of the president is to restore constitutional order,
maintain constitutional order, and it will be the first thing that I
will do. And first of all the people close to me, people around me,
my team, people standing here will feel the rigidness of
constitutional order, for me and my friends to gain the right to
apply it to everyone,' Vahan Hovanisyan says. He noted that even the
class which considers itself beyond the law, privileged, will realize
after the victory of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, establishment of
legality, that living and working in such a country is more calm,
safe and reliable.
In the end, Vahan Hovanisyan pronounced the famous quote that good
citizens elect bad government who do not participate in the election.
`Dear friends, do participate, do mobilize, do use your
possibilities, get your neighbors, friends, people around you vote,
and we will succeed. They cannot cheat us, defeat us through fraud.
Come together, do not let anyone remain indifferent, come together,
get mobilized, do not be guilty for, shaping a government through
indifference with which we will get tired. Time will pass, and the
children who are standing here will scold you if we do not win this
time either. But if we win, they will thank you for this day, for
standing here in cold, and will be grateful,' Vahan Hovanisyan says.
