Baku-APA. Trial on the case of Neftchala region resident Alizade
Babayev, who was accused of high treason, ended in Court of Grave
Crimes. The court sentenced Babayev to 11 years and 8 months in jail,
    APA reports.

Alizade Babayev was arrested as a result of the operation carried out
by Azerbaijani National Security Ministry. The investigation found
out that 58-year-old Babayev married Armenian Zoya Osepyan and they
had five children. After Nagorno Karabakh conflict started, Osepyan
left for Khankendi and began to live there. Alizade Babayev went to
Khankendi secretly several times, but his wife refused to see him.

Babayev met with the officers of Armenian intelligence service and
agreed to cooperate with them. Babayev delivered information about
the situation and important facilities in Azerbaijan to Armenians
in 1990-1996. He attempted to commit terrorist act in Baku Metro
several times, but his plan failed. Babayev was also found guilty
in torturing Azerbaijanis in Armenian captivity and attempting to
involve the captives in cooperation with Armenian intelligence service.
