SERZH SARKISIAN ASKS PEOPLE FOR VOTE OF CONFIDENCE

    A1+
    [07:27 pm] 17 February, 2008

Liberty Square was overcrowded today. People were taken to the square
    by buses, taxis, minibuses.

    Everything was done gratis.

Serzh Sarkissian was escorted by the Speaker of the National Assembly,
Republican Party members, ministers and other top-level officials.

The presidential candidate summed up his activity over the past
    nine months.

"I pledge people will have jobs in the Armenia we long for. Each
citizen will lead a dignified life providing his family with all
bare necessities. Nine months ago I promised that you would get
    high-quality education.

I pledged to make health service available for all people, increase
    pensions and strengthen the army.

Nine months ago I asked you for your vote of confidence and I still
do it. We have managed to changed a lot and go a step forward over
    these nine months."

Serzh Sarkissian called on the presentees to support Armenia's further
prosperity with their votes. "I need your vote to win the election. We
have already won many victories. We have already got used to overcoming
hardships. We must struggle hard to win new victories and be guided
    by the motto, "Onward, Armenia."

The presidential candidate felt aggression throughout the country
during his regional meetings. "People have asked me to take measures
to curb aggression. I am confident that all those people will vote for
me on February 19. I just want to remind you that everything will be
over in a few days. I want to repeat once more that we have neither
insulted any candidate nor sworn anyone. We don't incur hatred and
intolerance among people. We have passed a long way together. It is
    time to demonstrate heroism."
