Azerbaijan should intensify diplomatic efforts on Nagorno Karabakh
after Kosovo's declaration of independence
18 February 2008 [12:24] - Today.Az
"Azerbaijan should intensify diplomatic activity on Nagorno Karabakh
after Kosovo's declaration of independence".
The due information was provided by Mensur Akgun, chief executive on
the European Union of Turkey's Economic and Strategic Researches, APA
reports.
He considers that following the adoption of the act on the state
independence of Kosovo, the countries, which have faced such
problems, declare that this fact will not influence them.
"The countries, facing such problems, will say that Kosovo
independence will not influence them. However, the main point is the
violation of the rule, while its positiveness or negativeness is
another matter. The violation of the rule has become a specific
measure. If the Cyprus issue is not settled in the framework of the
UN charter, Kosovo will become a standard for the Turkish Republic of
Northern Cyprus.
The same can be said about Nagorno Karabakh. These processes will
complicate classical methods of resolution. The EU countries will be
able to adopt resolutions on such issues as they wish.
The Kosovo independence is expected to be recognized by most of the
EU states. The meeting of the EU foreign Ministers to discuss the
Kosovo independence will be held today. After that Azerbaijan should
intensify its diplomatic activity on Nagorno Karabakh".
