ArmInfo. CIS observers do not think the high turnout at the
presidential election in Armenia was unexpected.
'We visited a great number of precincts and noticed that opposition
observers counted all the voters entering and leaving the precincts. A
great attention was paid to that>, Vice Chairman of RF Federal
Assembly Council of Federation, a member of CIS Observation Mission
to the presidential election in Armenia, Alexander Troshin said at
a press conference in Yerevan, Wednesday. He called the political
process in Armenia 'solid', which attracted attention of observers as
well. 'There was no case of long thinking in booths. Electors were
well aware who to vote for'. 'The next think I'd like to mention
is that a great number of young people executed their right to
vote. Many young people and families with children attended the
voting precincts. It was evident that the Armenian people are well
aware of the importance of elections. That is why we believe the
high turnout was not unexpected. It was the result of active work by
campaign headquarters and candidates. We cannot but welcome this',
Troshin said. He also added that 'one should be an adventurer to try
to stuff ballots in the presence of so many observers', he said.
