    SPECIAL INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXAMINES 7 CRIMINAL CASES INSTITUTED ON INCIDENTS ON VOTING DAY OF RA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

    YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, NOYAN TAPAN. On the day of voting of the
    RA presidential elections, on February 19, seven criminal cases
    were instituted, which are examined by the Special Investigation
    Service. Aram Tamazian, the RA Deputy Prosecutor General, said during
    the February 20 meeting with journalists at the Central Electoral
    Commission (CEC).

    Criminal cases were instituted:

    On the fact of hindering the proceedings of the electoral commission
    by presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosian's empowered persons,
    Gurgen Yeghiazarian and others, who entered the electoral district
    instead of Ter-Petrosian's empowered person Ruzanna Movsisian, who
    voluntarily left polling station N 28/06 of Kotayk region.

    On the fact of forcing Levon Ter-Petrosian's empowered person Larisa
    Torosian out of polling station N 28/7 and beating her by three unknown
    persons, who entered the polling station on February 19 at about 7:30.

    On the fact of beating Pargev Mnatsakanian, the empowered person of
    presidential candidate Arman Melikian, at polling station N 8/20 of
    Malatia-Sebastia community.

    On the fact of hindering the proceedings of polling station commission
    N 32/53 of the village of Arevatsag, Lori region, by Edmond Gevorgian,
    the empowered person of presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosian,
    in the drunken state.

    On the fact of beating Suren Avetisian, the empowered person of
    presidential candidate Serge Sargsian, by Haroutiun Urutian, the head
    of Levon Ter-Petrosian's Ani territory preelection headquarters, in
    the presence of the crowd, which had gathered near polling station
    N 36/34 of the town of Maralik, Shirak region.

    On the fact of hindering the implementation of the powers of Lusine
    Barseghian, a correspondent of the Haykakan Zhamanak daily, and Armen
    Martirosian, an observer, a National Assembly deputy.

    On the fact of starting a fight with Artush Hakobian by Tigran
    Karapetian, the empowered person of RA presidential candidate Vahan
    Hovhannisian at about 18:15 at polling station N 27/30, stabbing the
    latter and inflicting a piercing injury to him.
