"Today the people of Armenia opted for a peaceful and economically
strong future of the country," Serge Sargsyan said. "I am proud of
having received the vote of our citizens to lead the country along
the path of economic and social development.
I am thankful to all those who have voted for me. However, as I have
stated before the election, I am going to be the president of all the
citizens of Armenia. Today we can celebrate the triumph of democracy
with all certitude and tomorrow we will have to start a new work
aimed at ensuring everybody's progress in Armenia allowing them to
declare with pride: "Onward Armenia."
I am delighted to receive our people's overwhelming support for the
second time during a year that will allow me to feel more confident
in the implementation of our country's foreign policy aimed at the
defiance of the existing challenges."
After the publication of the preliminary results, some opposition
forces have been trying to express their dissatisfaction by stirring
up acts of violence: "Any one in our country has the right to
free expression of personal views, but the instigation of public
disturbances, instability and mutiny must be ruled out in a democratic
country," RA Prime Minister said, mentioning that the law-enforcement
authorities will intervene only in case of necessity so as to restore
the public order.
