YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, NOYAN TAPAN. The National Press Club expressed
its deep preoccupation in connection with the acts of violence
recorded with regard to journalists in the RA February 19 presidential
elections.
According to the February 20 statement of the Club, what happened
speaks about the fact that acts of violence towards journalists in
Armenia are of continuous and coordinated character, deepening the
atmosphere of unpunishedness.
The National Press Club demands from the judicial-legal bodies to
punish those, who are guilty, with the whole strictness of the law,
irrespective of their official position, and to defend the human
rights and basic freedoms in Armenia.
At the same time, the National Press Club calls to its colleagues
for performing their professional duty without fear, not giving way
to various pressure for the Republic of Armenia.
