On the sidelines of the non-official summit of the leaders of CIS
countries, the Presidents of Armenia and Russian Robert Kocharyan and
Vladimir Putin had a meeting in Moscow. The Russian President first
thanked Robert Kocharyan for his participation in the summit, which is
an extra opportunity to meet and talk. Vladimir Putin expressed hope
that the newly elected President of the Republic of Armenia will pay
one of his first visits to Russia, and asked to convey his invitation
to Serge Sargsyan. Vladimir Putin also thanked the Armenian President
for the contribution to the development of Armenian-Russian relations,
both in economic and political spheres.
For his part Robert Kocharyan thanked for the warm words. "If we assess
the way passed, the bilateral relations have really registered progress
in all directions. These years were remarkable for their effectiveness
for both Armenia and Russia, and all this resulted in special relations
between Armenia and Russia. He added that those in Armenia appreciate
the relations with Russia and noted that connected with the level
of political relations, the bilateral agenda of issues discussed has
also enlarged, and there is always the necessity to discuss those.
