ArmInfo. Six top officials of RA FM employees supported Levon
Ter-Petrosyan in fact, the presidential contender himself said tonight
at the continuing thousand-strong rally of his supporters at Liberty
Square in Yerevan.
Ter-Petrosyan read the statement of the Foreign Ministry's employees,
signed by Head of FM Department of Information and Public Relations,
press-secretary of RA Foreign Ministry Vladimir Karapetyan, Heads of
four departments of a number of the Foreign Ministry's administrations
- Varsenik Karapetyan, Karine Ayvazyan and Arakel Semirjyan, as well as
the third secretary of one of the departments Elen Petrosyan.
The statement of RA FM employees contains a requirement to the
country's authorities to immediately fulfill all the proposals of
international organizations and monitoring missions aimed at assurance
of election of a legitimate president. The statement also expresses
indignation with the whole course of the election process, "which casts
some doubt on readiness and desire of the Armenian people to hold free
and democratic election". To recall, deputy Foreign Minister Armen
Bayburdyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to
Italy, Spain and Portugal Rouben Shugaryan, Ambassador of RA to
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Levon Khachatryan, as well as Envoy of RA
Embassy to Ukraine and Moldova Razmik Khumaryan came out yesterday with
a similar statement. An hour later after this statement, A. Bayburdyan,
R. Shugaryan and L. Khachatryan have been discharged of their posts and
deprived of their diplomatic titles.
