Armenian former deputy prosecutor general arrested

ArmInfo. Law-enforcement agencies stopped motor of the former deputy
prosecutor general Gagik Jangiryan in Argavand village near Yerevan, on
23 February evening. Jangiryan himself, his driver and companion, maybe
his brother, were detained. Circumstances of detaining were not
officially presented but the fact of detaining was proved by the
Armenian Police.
Yesterday Gagik Jangiryan openly supported the opposition actions and
joined the first Armenian president, candidate for president Levon
Ter-Petrosyan. He was dismissed from his post and deprived of all his
ranks. Press-secretary of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's election headquarters
Arman Musinyan told ArmInfo correspondent that the political background
of Jangiryan's arrest is obvious and needs no comment.
