MINISTER OSKANIAN RECEIVED HIS SLOVENIAN COUNTERPART

On February 25 RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian received the
delegation headed by the Foreign Minister of Slovenia, the President of
the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Jan Kubis. During
the meeting the parties turned to the presidential elections held in
Armenia on February 19.
The Foreign Minister of Slovakia informed that the term of his visit
was not chosen accidentally. It was his wish to visit Armenia a few
days after the elections to familiarize with the situation. At the
request of the guest, Minister Oskanian presented the post-election
processes in Armenia, the results of the process of appellation and
recount of votes.
The parties later turned to bilateral relations, noting the great
potential of development of relations and emphasizing the importance
of expanding the contractual-legal field. Jan Kubis informed that
three members of the Slovenian Government intend to visit Armenia
this year, which will become an important impetus for the further
development of multifaceted relations between the two countries.
The Ministers discussed the Armenia-EU relations, and the process of
implementation of the Action Plan of the European Neighborhood Policy.
Minister Oskanian presented Armenia's position on the normalization of
Armenian-Turkish relations, as well as the process and perspectives
of the negotiations on Nagorno Karabakh. Reference was made to the
development in Kosovo.
