ARMENIA'S POLICE READY TO SUPPRESS ATTEMPTS TO BREAK PUBLIC ORDER

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. The RA Police are ready to suppress
any attempt to break public order in the country.
"The authorities and all the departments of the RA Police Service
will implicitly fulfill their duties and are ready to suppress any
attempt to break public order and destabilize the situation in order
to protect the citizens' constitutional rights," according to the
statement of the RA Police.
At the same time, the RA Police denies rumors about Police Chief Haik
Harutyunyan's resignation.
Since February 20 rallies, sit-ins and student walkouts have been
held by the opposition in the center of Yerevan. The initiators and
participants of the opposition actions protest against the results
of the February 19 presidential elections published by the Central
Electoral Commission.
According to the results, the current Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian
won the elections with 52.86%. According to the Central Electoral
Commission, opposition candidate Ter-Petrosian obtained 21.5% of
the votes.
