Supporters of losing presidential candidate rally in Yerevan
YEREVAN Feb 20
A crowd of supporters of Levon Ter- Petrosian, who came in second in
the Armenian presidential election, are rallying on Freedom Square in
downtown Yerevan after a demonstration.
Police say there are about 10,000 protesters who claim that the
Tuesday elections were marred by vote-rigging.
Earlier, the protesters rallied outside of the Central Elections
Commission building.
Nikol Pashinian, a member of Ter-Petrosian's campaign, said that the
rally and procession produced the desired results, because
"international observers rated the election negatively."
He told the rally that public TV and other channels must be ordered
to cover the rally and procession, "so that everyone can see how many
people have joined us during this short period of time." ml md
