"As soon as the results of the elections are summed, they
should be more accepted by the public, otherwise there would be
misunderstanding," said Abraham Bakhchgulyan, the Secretary of the
Central Election Committee answering to the question that the CEC
published the results of the elections sooner.
He said that according to the Electoral Code, the results of the
elections are published within 7 days after the elections "as the
results were also collected we published them on 24 February".
According to him when publishing the results the representatives of
the Country of Laws and the Heritage were not present. "They just
did not come to the workplace," he said.
As for Levon Ter-Petrosyan's request to announce the elections invalid,
the representative of the CEC said that yesterday they got an unsigned
letter with this content: "according to the electoral code, the CEC
should announce the second stage of the presidential elections, but
today they did not announce it," said the secretary. Bakhchagulyan
said that the requests are examined within five days, "but the unsigned
letter is not discussed yet".
As for violations, breaking the law, and disputes, the secretary said
that if 1 million 100 thousands people take part in the same incident,
then it just can not pass smoothly.
