ArmInfo. Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Tigran Torosyan
informed parliamentarians Thursday that the resignation of NA
Vice Chairman Vahan Hovhannisyan came into effect. T.Torosyan
explained that V. Hovhannissyan sent in his resignation on February
25 2008. The RA Law On National Assembly Regulations says that an
application is recognized effective if it is not recalled within three
days. T. Torosyan thanked V. Hovhannissyan for the work carried out and
expressed confidence in further combined work in the parliament. To
recall, the resignation of V. Hovhannisyan was connected with his
defeat in the presidential election from ARFD party. Earlier, ARFD
had already declared of possible break of cooperation with the ruling
political coalition represented by the Republican Party of Armenia and
Prosperous Armenia Party. It is noteworthy that under the cooperation
agreement with the coalition, ARFD received the positions of the vice
speaker and the head of a parliamentary commission, as well as some
    ministerial portfolios.
